Florida Lifestyle Photographer | At Home with the Jones Family, a Cozy Newborn Session | Heirloom & Oil LLC

Hi Friend’s! One of my big goals for 2019 is to start blogging more (or just start all together!) and let everyone know what I’m up to these days. I have a lot of interests and wear many different hats, so blogging seems like a great way to keep my website up to date with my work. Honestly, sitting down I had no clue where to start so I’m just going to start with my first session of 2019, an in-home newborn session with the sweetest rainbow baby and why I think in-home sessions are so very important.

It’s important that you know WHY I love photography so much in the first place. To put it simply I am in love with how a photograph can freeze a moment in time forever and be stored away for safe keeping to pull out on rainy days. As a little girl, I would often pull out my Nana & Paw’s family albums and loved looking at all the old film captures. I loved it all, but was really interested in the photos that showed what everyday life was like. I found it so interesting to see their homes, their cars, clothes, and even their pets. This has had a huge impact on how I like to photograph my family and other families. I not only love to pose a family and create beautiful well thought out images, but I also love to photograph everyday moments finding beauty in the chaos. I love documenting life as it is now.

In fact, I photograph my children at home a lot on a daily basis. On sunny days and cloudy days, when my house is a disaster and when I’ve had time to tidy up. Not only do I want to be able to look back on these days when I’m older, but I’m hoping my children will appreciate these moments in time as much as I do.

So lets talk in-home sessions! Ok, if you are anything like me you are busy and your home is not perfect. I have a two year old and a three month old and three pets. I can assure you I can find good light, and create art in your home despite what you may think. I do it on the daily in my own life!

Lizzy and Ian welcomed their gorgeous rainbow baby into the world this past February and I had the honor of documenting some of her first days at home.

We had actually planned on doing a Fresh 48 session at the hospital for this sweet girl, but since this was their second baby they were discharged too quickly for me to make it to the hospital. I didn’t want to miss out on capturing those new baby features and details so I proposed an in-home session instead.

I was able to capture some beautiful family moments as well as photograph all the beautiful new baby details. This sweet babe is now six weeks old and already changing so much. I know this family is happy to have these images to remember those new and ever so exhausting, but exciting days at home as a new family. Be sure to check out their fur baby, Bella, who kept sneaking into the photos!

Your in-home session isn’t so much about your home as it is about you, the family you’re growing in that home, and the love your home holds- chaos and all.
